Job Title: Lead Coach

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and nurturing Lead Football Coach to deliver engaging football sessions for children aged 18 months to 8 years. This role focuses on introducing young children to football through fun, imaginative, and structured activities that support physical, social, and emotional development.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children and creating a positive first experience in sport.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver fun, age-appropriate football sessions for toddlers and young children
  • Use games and imaginative play to develop basic football and movement skills
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Lead and support assistant coaches during sessions
  • Engage positively with parents/guardians and provide feedback on children’s progress
  • Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and welfare standards are always met
  • Adapt sessions to suit varying abilities and confidence levels

Requirements

  • Experience working with young children (18 months – 8 years), ideally in sport or early years settings
  • Relevant coaching qualification (FA Level 1 / UEFA C preferred, but not essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and parents
  • Energetic, patient, and creative approach to coaching
  • Understanding of child development and early years learning
  • Valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • First Aid and Safeguarding certification (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable

  • Background in early years education, childcare, or primary teaching
  • Experience delivering toddler or preschool activity sessions
  • Knowledge of fundamental movement skills and physical literacy
