Lead Coach - Wanstead, Docklands & Stratford (London)

Lead Coach - Wanstead, Docklands & Stratford (London)

The Lead Coach facilitates and coordinates the Little Kickers physical activities programme, teaching the children core football skills according to the pace and structure set out in the Little Kickers activity programme. The coach ensures each session takes place in a well organised, disciplined and fun manner. The coach tailors each session to take into account the age and individual skill level of each child and ensures that children progress week on week, and ensures that each session is as well structured, evenly paced and as inclusive as possible.

The Lead Coach prepares for each session by deciding how the session will be run before the beginning of the session (such as what progressions and skill areas will be concentrated on), and instructs the assistant coach in how to help achieve the goals that have been set for the session.

The Lead Coach is supported by the assistant coach during the session but must be the primary coaching influence during the sessions. The Lead coach must have strong leadership skills and be able to gain the respect of the children through a mixture of authority and empathy. It is crucial that the coach quickly gets to know the name and skill level of each child in the session in order to tailor skills content to individual children and praise the achievements and improvement of each individual child. The Lead Coach is responsible for the quality level of the teaching in the session and will be measured by parent’s satisfaction levels with the teaching content, pace and appropriateness of the session.
