Father-of-four Andy Johnson scores success with his new football coaching career
Jun 4 2009 by Gemma Jaleel, Ormskirk Advertiser

A father of four who was fed up with his job has set up his own football coaching school in Burscough.

Andy Johnson, 39, was working as a call centre manager at QVC for seven years, when he decided he wanted to do something different.

Andy said: “I took voluntary redundancy as I wanted to take a new step, have a bit more flexibility and spend more me with my kids.”

Andy, originally from Maghull and now living in Warrington, started up a ‘Little Kickers’ franchise at the beginning of April and already had 50 children attending his sessions.

“I had to go through coaching training, CRB checks and I’m in the middle of completing my FA level badge one.”

Andy is no stranger to a football pitch, having played for the Marine youth team in Crosby and Burscough FC youth team in his teens.

“The sessions are going well and it means I can spend more time with my sons Charlie and Harry – they’re mad on football.”
