The Innocent Village Fete, Legoland Live and Beamish Museum were just a few places that Little Kickers

scored a major hit with children and their parents throughout the UK this summer. With over 8,000 under 7’s across the country

already regularly participating in classes held at local venues, Little Kickers wanted to take their programme on the road

to show others what they had been missing.

Feedback from attendees and organisers of the events has been overwhelmingly positive. The coaches were energetic,

friendly and encouraged the little ones to play games and try penalty shoot outs. The parents got involved too and

everyone had a great time, despite the occasional poor weather conditions.

Attending family focused fun events throughout the summer was an ideal opportunity to showcase the Little Kickers

classes to parents and allow them to see first hand that the programme is about far more than simply introducing their

child to the beautiful game.

What sets Little Kickers apart from the many other pre-school activities is their overall objective to encourage more

children to get physically active, and to provide them with a positive introduction to sport. Little Kickers appreciate that

children who become passionate about sport at a young age are far more likely to continue to participate as they get

older, thereby reducing the instance of both childhood and adult obesity.

Gretta Mcnamara, Marketing Manager for Little Kickers said “We are keen to participate in events like these to

encourage more parents to let their children have a go at sport from an early age. Many people feel that children are

too young to do so until they reach the age of 5, however by participating in the Little Kickers fun day events, parents

can gain first hand experience of the kinds of games which are appropriate and fun for the pre-school age group and

take some of the ideas home with them”.

As well as teaching fundamental football techniques & elementary life skills, Little Kickers aim to develop invaluable

social skills such as listening, sharing, taking turns and teamwork plus they also place emphasis on simple learning

concepts like colours and numbers and on fine-tuning the child’s basic balance, agility and co-ordination.

Little Kickers are primarily a commercially-run organisation, however many of their franchisees also now run non-profit

classes for Surestart. Where they run classes on a commercial basis, they try to keep the prices as low as possible to

ensure that they are financially within the reach of as many families as possible. This is what some of their customers had
