Little Kickers have the answer for the Toon – play nice! With the continuing soap opera at Newcastle United unfolding before our eyes, Little Kickers reckon we can offer some free advice...put the fun back into things! We feel we know a thing or two about the benefits of offering heaps of fun around a well-disciplined structure and with over 7,000 footballers (aged 18 months to 7) and a clutch of pre-school & small business awards to our name, King Kev could do a lot worse than approach us for his next position! In the euphoria of Keegans arrival only a few months ago the north east was captivated once more with it’s beloved team. Little did they know at the time that a much quieter arrival in the North Easts football world, Little Kickers, had slipped in under the radar and started working with local nurseries and toddler groups as well as our many local children in our fun activity classes and began grooming a new flock of talented tots! The motto “Play not Push” is a standard that we always adhere to and we can’t help thinking that it’s time our team applied a similar philosophy! It could be argued that with kids as young as 18 months getting involved in football, it’s a little bit like herding cats. Of course we see our fair share of tantrums and it has even been known for us to get a little bit of backchat from our players, on the other hand, none of our kickers are earning £140k a week and most have precious little else to worry about but how much fun they can find in the busy working weeks of their parents! Week after week, all our kids have on their minds is which games they are going to play! “Can we play the Bear game this week?” and “I want to do the Train Game and go to the Seaside!” are just two of our regular requests. We have our fair share of rattle throwing and dummy spitting, but these are the literal kind rather than the metaphorical! Certainly no child to our recollection has worried about how much they are going to get paid for playing the game they and indeed we, love so much! Here at Little Kickers all our training is friendly. Although we also adhere to some strict basic rules, when it comes to our classes we prefer a more informal approach that puts fun firmly at the fore. It goes without saying that scouts, protests (of the organised kind!), bickering board meetings, mobile phones and annoying agents are a complete no-no at any of our classes, however when it comes to enthusiastic parents, we actively encourage them to cheer from the sidelines, possibly even participate if that helps their child settle into the class (We would ask that parents refrain from “downing a pint” in front of the kids though...we suspect that may give the wrong idea Mr Ashton!) So come on Newcastle, let’s get the fun back into things...and if any of your regular toon goers with pre school kids would like a break from the tense, nervous world of St James’s, why not give us a try, you never know, you may even see some silverware!
