Ponteland Party in the Park The Party in the Park is an annual event organised by Ponteland churches and sponsored by local businesses. The prospect of an afternoon of singing, live bands, dance, arts and crafts and a BBQ draws in the crowds from far and wide.
Chris Burl recently set up the Little Kickers franchise in the area, and was invited to join in the fun at the Party. Armed with goals, balls and an enthusiastic team, Chris spent a fun-packed afternoon honing the football skills of the local pre-school population. The coaches, Chris and Sarah, did a fantastic job co-ordinating a series of goal scoring / penalty games throughout the day for the local kids, and were very impressed by what they saw.
Mr and Mrs Slater of Ponteland won the prize draw - the only decision they have to make now is which of their two children gets the free classes, as both left the park wanting more! 2nd prize was a free annual membership and 5 runners up won a pair of LKFC inflatable goals.
Throughout the day, despite the baking hot sun and other attractions, the coaches were very busy taking kids through the Little Kickers programme which involves developmental games (designed to promote balance, co-ordination and early learning skills such as colours and numbers), ball skills and penalties, and many parents commented on how impressed they were by how engaged the children became.
Classes will be starting in Ponteland on 28th June. If you are interested in coming along, please contact Chris Burl on 0191 406 6329. At the time of going to press, these classes are almost full – spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis so please call early to avoid disappointment.
