Kick off with Little Kickers! Little Kickers was launched by two mums back in 2002 with the aim of filling a gap in the market of coaching children in the basics of football from as young as 18 months all the way up until five years old. Now, six years later, over 7000 children a week are reaping the rewards and enjoying taking part in the Little Kickers programme. The classes are non-competitive and non-contact and whilst they do introduce children to the basics of the game, they do so in a fun, relaxed environment. Little Kickers motto is ‘play not push’. Physically the children learn the basics of agility, balance and co-ordination. It’s more than the physical skills though. The games within the sessions fire their imaginations and teach them skills such as socialization, following instructions and sharing, as well as things like numbers and the different parts of the body. Is there a budding Wayne Rooney in your house? Why not visit the Little Kickers website to find a class in your area.... The BBC is not responsible for the content of external websites Life as a Little Kickers coach can be great fun and offers fantastic potential to develop youngster's footballing skills in a relaxed and friendly environment. Whilst emphasis is placed on fun and enjoyment the footballing content is critical to the success of the Little Kickers class. Key skills looked for in the coaching team are enthusiasm, a sense of humour, a passion for football and a desire to work with young children. Not taking yourself too seriously also helps. The team has FA football qualifications indicating their real desire to develop footballing skills amongst young players. Want to find out more? Contact Sarah Whale for more information:
